The Weekend Post #16: Sun, Sun, Sun.

Heat wave? Yes please... With the temperate rising I've been spending more time enjoying the sun than I have been blogging recently, so it's just a quick post today. Apart from eating ice-cream (how can you resist an ice cream in hot weather like this?), shopping and carbooting I've been relaxing and getting burnt (nice).

Had to take a photo of these lovely flowers

Sunset from the other night

I managed to pick up a stunning black and white striped ruck sack from Topshop in the sale for an amazing £10 too!  - I do love a good bargain - and I'm so excited about Maybelline Baby Lips being released here in the UK (finally!). All I need now is a BBQ.

What have you been up to this sunny weekend?

The Weekend Post #15: The Natural Eye

Whatever the weather, you'll pretty much always find me sporting light and natural eye makeup. A sweep of eyeshadow, a flick of eyeliner and some lashings of mascara is all I need these days. I thought it would be interesting for you to see what my eye makeup menu consists of on a daily basis.

Untitled | via Tumblr

First on the menu is Mac All That Glitters, the perfect all-over lid shade (full review coming soon!). I sweep this all over my lids and move straight onto eyeliner. Oh, but not forgetting a subtle highlight on my brow bone and inner corner, I use one of my old favourites, enter... Urban Decay Bootycall.
Using a liner brush, I build some of Urban Decay's Blackout up and apply this with a small flick at the end. A good tip is to slightly dampen the liner brush to intensify the line. For mascara I'm currently loving Benefit They're Real, for lots of volume. A few lashings of this on my top - and don't forget the bottom - lashes and my eyes look wider and much more awake.

What's on your makeup menu for a natural look?

The Weekend Post #13: Guilt-Free Snacking

First things first, sorry for missing out on last weeks 'weekend post' but I was busy, out enjoying the sunshine (which seems to have disappeared right now). But carrying on from last times 'weekend post' I thought I'd share some of my favourite guilt-free snacks with you. I do enjoy a snack in the evenings but finding something that's low in calories and actually good for you can be hard.

Apple Slices with Peanut Butter
Peanuts help boost your metabolism and help stop sugar cravings. Apples are 1 of your 5 a day and help prevent bloating too. This is a great little snack to stop that hunger and requires very little effort!

Kelloggs Special K Cracker Crisps
With less that 100 calories per bag, these are a fantastic snack if you're feeling a little peckish and counting the calories. Much better for you than a packet of Doritos or Walkers.

Granola with Yoghurt and Mixed Berries
This is perfect for a light dessert or as a quick and simple snack in the evenings. You can use low-fat yoghurt or even Greek yoghurt, and mix a teaspoon of honey in with it if you've got a sweet-tooth.

So there was a little selection of snacks that I enjoy, what are yours?

The Weekend Post #12: Getting Fit

I've never spoken about fitness on my blog previously, and I wanted to speak about something slightly different for this weekend post. I have been soo naughty this week, I've eaten chocolate, sweets, marshmallows, fast food and other things that you really shouldn't be eating a lot of, but now I want to start eating healthier and doing some extra exercise.

I usually start the day off well but by evening I find myself craving chocolates and sweets, and I've been giving in a lot recently. So I'm going to start the week off by cutting all of those bad habits out and try to do more walking, swimming etc...
It's so easy to sit watching t.v, or read a book and be stuffing your face with a tub of Ben and Jerry's (oh yes, I forgot to mention I'd demolished a tub of that) but it has to stop. Basically, if I carry on I'll end up looking like a hippopotamus, and that is not a good look.
I shall update you on how I get on in a few weeks time, hopefully a lot healthier too.

So what about you? Do you need to up the amount of water you drink? Do more exercise? C'mon ladies, lets do this.

The Weekend Post #11: A New Fragrance

I love buying new perfumes, almost as much as I love walking into Boots and immediately smelling different scents and seeing a wall packed with a huge variety of fragrances. It can be tricky working your way through the wall and I could stand there forever spritzing away and as usual, I left with a handful of sweet smelling cards. Anyway it wasn't until a few days later that I could smell something heavenly lurking in the pocket of my leather jacket, and I pulled out one of the Boots fragrance cards. That was when I fell in love with Stella - the perfume, not actually Stella McCartney - so I made my way back to Boots and made a very quick purchase. I couldn't wait to get my mitts on it.

Summer by Stella McCartney was released earlier on this year and is housed in a beautifully striking bottle. The smell just makes me think of summer (hence the name), it's light and long-lasting. With top notes of frosted lemon and green apple which then fade into a mix of rose and peony, and warm amber to end off with, this ladies and gentlemen is my new scent. I can't describe how delicious this scent really is in a blog post, but its divine, sweet blend of lemon, apple, rose, peony and amber is pure bliss in a bottle.

Will you be trying this out?

The blog has been neglected this week - aside from one post on Friday that I'd had ready to upload for a week - due to exams (yes, that dreaded word). But thankfully they're over and done with now, so I can get back to blogging (hooray!) Everything will be back to normal from now :)

The Weekend Post #9: Short But Sweet

I haven't had much free time on my hands this weekend - hence why this is only being written at almost ten o' clock... Ooopss! - but I wanted to keep you a little up-to-date on what I've been doing this weekend and what my plans for the rest of the week are.

Alívio Imediato | via Tumblr
I have an exam on Friday (and I am NOT looking forward to it!) so I will be dedicating most of my time to revising this week, so if posts become a little sparse don't panic because as soon as I've got the exam over with it will all be back to normal.
I am also in the process of creating some (more exciting) blog posts, so keep and eye out for those!
Also, if you have any requests (reviews or more fashion posts) then please do say in the comments and I will try my best to do them!

The Weekend Post #8: Benefit They're Real in ELLE

I'm a huge lover of Benefit cosmetics but I've never had chance to try out the They're Real mascara. With claims to volumize, curl, lengthen, lift and separate your lashes. What more could a girl ask for?
Well when I saw that this months edition of ELLE had a free sample size of the Benefit They're Real mascara, I snapped it up. You can actually buy this size at Boots for £9.50, and I've stared at it many a time whilst in the queue however, the magazine was only £4 itself, mega-bargain!

I will do a review of this once I've had time to try it out but I merely wanted to alert you of this (as it's too good to miss!).

Will you be picking up this months ELLE?

The Weekend Post #7: A Jolly Good Combo!

Recently, I've been finding myself mixing products together to create a perfect solution for my skin. The culprits are: Dr. Jart Water Fuse BB cream (full review here) and Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. With the weather being a bit better recently- finally -I prefer a lighter base that will keep my skin looking glowy and radiant but still have a bit of coverage to it. There's nothing more I hate than a mask-like foundation (yuck).
Bourjois have changed the formula of their Healthy Mix, I have the older version but I will be getting the newer version soon. This foundation does wonders for my skin containing apricot (for radiance), melon (for hydration), apple (an antioxidant) and ginger (energy). It glides on my skin leaving me with a fresh even base. My skin feels like it can breathe when I'm wearing this.
Dr. Jart Water Fuse BB cream is one of my more recent purchases, and it ticks all the right boxes for me. It has a little thicker consistency than the foundation and it keeps the skin moisturised all day. It makes my face look lovely and dewy (without looking greasy). If you'd like to hear more of my thoughts on this then click here.So that's what I've been using as my base for a while and If my skin needs a bit more 'glow' then I add a bit of Benefit High Beam into the mix.

Do you enjoy mixing products together? If so, what are your favourite combos?

The Weekend Post #6: Rose, Rose And More Rose!

This week I've been finding myself using quite a few rose related products and I thought I'd share my thoughts with you on them this weekend. Rose isn't usually a scent I'd lean towards (as I'm not a huge fan) but I wouldn't outline using any rose scented products at all.
First on the list is the Aromatherapy Hydrating Rose Cleanser. I received this is Red's latest magazine. If you didn't already know, Red are currently giving out some Aromatherapy products. They are three to choose from: the Hydrating Rose cleanser, Rose Face Mask and a Rose Moisturiser  I was on the hunt for the Rose Face Mask, but after searching in numerous WHSmith's, Tesco's etc... I got bored and plumped for the cleanser instead. I was pleasantly surprised with how moisturising this cleanser was and how soft and smooth it left my face feeling. The minute I applied this to my face I immediately felt the effects and my skin feels set for the day after using this. Even with my oily T-Zone.
Next up is the Balance Me Rose Otto Intensive Lip Salve, to me this smells very herbal-like and isn't really my cup of tea, but I managed to look past that. It's 100% natural and claims to 'plump, smooth and hydrate' your lips. When I've applied this my lips do feel plumper, and the lip balm feels to sink into my lips instead of just sitting on top of them. (I can't stand it when a lip balm just sits on top of your lips!)  Due to the scent, this is one I prefer to use before I hit the hay.
Last on my list is Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Perfume, now this doesn't smell entirely like rose but it does have notes of rose in it. This is my favourite perfume ever. I've been wearing this for about a year now and it's basically my signature scent. Perfect for Spring/Summer, as it's light sweet and floral. This will have you sniffing your wrists every few minutes, and at £48 for 75ml, you can't resist. I own the mini travel size version but I can guarantee you I'll be picking up the full size bottle ready for Summer. And to top it off, it's housed in a beautifully designed bottle. What more can I say?

Do have any rose-scented products? What do you think of these?

The Weekend Post #5: Saving

My bank balance has been suffering quite a lot recently due to the 3 for 2 makeup offers in Boots, but I've decided I need to start saving up some money (finally) and I wanted to make something simple but cute to collect it in.
So after finishing my Spaghetti Bolognese, I cleaned out the jar and added a few 'decorations' to it.
I used a couple of coats of a glitter nail polish on the lid to add a bit of 'sparkle' to it. I was going to paint it but I would've had to buy some, which would of been silly seen as I'm supposed to be saving my money. I tied a bow around the top using some string and then stuck a little piece of paper on with 'savings' written on it. I really am hoping this cute little jar will encourage me to put a few pounds away every week. I'm also coming to the conclusion that I might own a tad too much makeup and I'm on a mission to use up at least 5 products before I buy any more. Now I'm not promising but I will try, haha!

What do you do to help you save?

The Weekend Post #3: Easter!

As I mentioned in my Easter Bunny nail tutorial post, I love Easter, mainly because I get to eat a large amount of chocolate and not feel as guilty because I know everyone is spending the day indulging in a few Easter eggs (or almost everyone). This weekend has been packed full of shopping, eating, ignoring my dwindling bank balance (whoops) and visiting family, so as you can imagine I have been busy.

I'm currently sat in my living room surrounded by wrappers and cardboard boxes, creme eggs, maltesers, buttons and wispa bars are strewn across the room and watching films with my sister. There is no better way to spend Easter in my opinion! I know I promised this weeks post would be a bit more interesting but I'll be honest, I actually forgot about this post (the shame) but I pinky promise that next weeks will be more appealing. Anyway back to eating my chocs now!

What have you been doing over the Easter weekend?

The Weekend Post #2: A Lazy Weekend

Well I was scratching my head this week when it came to this post, I mean I haven't really done that much. I did manage to make my way to Boots yesterday though (despite the snow and shockingly cold weather for March), to get a load of the latest's beauty releases, which I have already added to my wishlist. On the plus side, I haven't had too much work or exam revision to do so I thought I would make the most of it and spend a couple of hours planning my next few blog posts and taking a hefty amount of photos all ready for my blog. Oh how I do love being organised.

                                                           Image from weheartit.com
So I'm going to finish eating my toasted tiger bread slathered with Philadelphia, watch some YouTube videos, write and read some more blog posts and relish a lovely lie in.
I do promise that I will have a much more interesting weekend post next week.

What have you been up to this weekend? Have you been as indolent as me?

The Weekend Post #1: Bookworm

I wanted to start a new series of posts and as I was scribbling down some ideas I came across ViviannaDoesMakeup's blog and noticed she does a ' The Weekend Post' which is when she just writes about things shes been doing in the week, etc... so I thought I would do it too, as I've seen a few other blogs with the idea as well. So I hope you enjoy!

Over the past few weeks, I really have been enjoying a quiet night just sat reading. Which is unusual for me as I usually can't spend more than 10 minutes without some kind of electrical thing within my grasp, but one of my New Year's resolutions was to read more, so I've been giving it a go.

The Hunger Games are an amazing series of books, I began reading the first book in the sequel when it was first released and it took me about 5 months to read (yes, I did say I wasn't the best at sitting down and actually reading) but once I'd finished it I couldn't stop and just wanted to carry on.

The book I've been reading this week is A Perfect Death by Kate Ellis.  Kate Ellis is a murder mystery author and I have previously read one of her other books (Kissing The Demons) which was a fantastic story that had me on edge almost every second. I see a lot of people on Instagram posting pictures of their recent reads and I've managed to make a list of books I would like to read:

The perks of being a wallflower- Stephen Chbosky
The fault in our stars- John Green
Looking for Alaska- John Green
A cursed inheritance- Kate Ellis
Wreck this journal- Keri Smith

I know that wreck this journal isn't really a 'book' but I still want it nonetheless.

What books have you been enjoying lately?
